• Engineering design
• Performance based engineering (hands on with the actual engineering side of things)
• Engineering Project Management of a fire protection system and/or HVAC installation
• Drafting fire plans according to SANS 10400-T and the associated supporting SANS codes, as well as interfacing with the fire departments during the approval process.
• Performance Based Designs (Rational Designs) – implement an in depth understanding of fire engineering. It is important to have an in-depth understanding of the concept of Rational Design 
• Design and install HVAC and fire suppression and detection systems in various industries
• Smoke control design (Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation and smoke fill rate calculations) coupled with ASET and RSET evaluations.

Qualifications and Requirements: 
BSc (Eng) / BEng / BTech degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering
ECSA registered as Candidate or Professional (PrEng) Engineer or Pr Tech Eng (Technologist)
3-6+ years of relevant experience with the below:
HVAC design and Fire plan preparation and submission 
Sprinkler system design and implementation
Sprinkler hydraulics knowledge preferred
Knowledge of international sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global will be advantageous.
Performance based engineering (hands on experience with the actual engineering side of things) essential
Well-versed with engineering design software.
Knowledge of hydraulic designs (pump and tank sizing) as well as smoke control design (Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation and smoke fill rate calculations) coupled with ASET and RSET evaluations.
Mining industry experience recommended but not essential.
Own transport, valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to clients when required
Medically fit and willing to work on mining and construction sites
 
Remuneration: 
Market related – negotiable depending on qualifications, registration status and relevant experience.
