Gauteng: Sales Specialist – Substation, Transmission & Distribution posted by Network Finance

Are you an experienced technical sales professional in the power and grid automation space? I’m partnering with a global leader in advanced automation and communication solutions, seeking a driven Sales Engineer to expand their footprint across Southern Africa. This role focuses on system-solution selling within Substation Protection, Control, and Utility Communication Systems, working with utilities, EPCs, and major industrial end-users.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–8 years’ technical sales experience within grid automation, substation automation, or power systems.
• Strong understanding of protection & control, SCADA/RTU, and utility communication technologies.
• Experience managing complex sales cycles, product homologation, and distributor/channel development.
• Valid driver’s licence & willingness to travel across Southern Africa.

Job Experience & Skills Required

• Manage the full sales process: promotion, technical presentations, tender support, negotiation, and closing.
• Build long-term relationships with utilities, industrial clients, engineering houses, and channel partners.
• Identify opportunities and maintain an accurate sales pipeline via CRM.
• Develop sales plans, track performance, and implement recovery actions where required.
• Ensure competitive proposals aligned with customer needs, project conditions, and internal strategy.
• Collaborate closely with bid & proposal teams, solution specialists, and account managers.
• Conduct risk assessments, adhere to HSE requirements, and maintain compliance standards.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage technical challenges, and maintain strong commercial focus.
