• Workplace Inspections: Regularly inspecting work areas to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance with safety procedures.
• Incident Investigation: Investigating accidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventative measures. Complaint Handling: Investigating employee complaints related to safety concerns and taking appropriate action.
• Risk Assessment: Participating in risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Safety Committee Meetings: Attending health and safety committee meetings to discuss safety issues and propose solutions.
• Employee Training: Promoting safety awareness by delivering toolbox talks and training sessions to employees.
• Reporting Hazards: Reporting identified hazards to management and following up to ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Policy Enforcement: Ensuring adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
• Communication: Communicating safety concerns to employees and management effectively.
• Accompanying Inspectors: Accompanying external safety inspectors during workplace audits.

Qualifications:

• South African unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
• Must not have participated on the YES Programme before.
  
• A SHEQ representative, or Health and Safety Representative must have basic training in health and safety principles, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
• They may also need advanced training in specific hazards and industry regulations.
• Basic training Introductory courses that cover fundamental health and safety principles, Hazard identification, Accident investigation, and Risk assessment.
• Advanced training Specialized training on specific hazards and Industry regulations.
• Certificates:Environmental Management Certificate (NEBOSH). International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH).
• Occupational Health and Safety (Co-ordinator in the Workplace): Proficiency Course.
• Learnership Certificate in Construction Health and Safety Management (NQF Level 3).
• National Diploma in Safety Management. 
• B-Tech in Safety Management
