General Manager Luxury Lodge | Grahamstown, Eastern Cape

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced General Manager to join a prestigious Luxury Lodge based in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. This is a live-in position offering a competitive salary of R30,000 per month (negotiable depending on experience).

The ideal candidate will be a well-presented and professional individual with a strong background in lodge or hotel management, exceptional leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering world-class guest experiences.

Requirements:

• Matric

• Degree, National Diploma or Certificate in Hotel Management (essential)

• Minimum of 5 years experience working at a 5-star lodge or hotel

• Proven management experience within a similar environment

• Clear understanding of lodge operations

• Computer literate and proficient in MS Office packages

• Proficient in OPERA property management system

• Professional, well-groomed, and excellent communication skills

• Strong administrative and operational skills

• Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities

• Financial acumen with an understanding of budgeting and cost control

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Sound knowledge of Guest Relations, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Front Office operations

• Experience using platforms such as Guest Revu and TripAdvisor

• Ability to implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction, reputation, and profitability

• Exceptional Food & Beverage knowledge

• Passion for training and developing staff

• Understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures

• Valid drivers licence (no endorsements) and own reliable transport (essential)

• Willingness to live on-site

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all lodge departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

• Maintain high standards of service, guest satisfaction, and property upkeep

• Manage and motivate staff to achieve service excellence

• Ensure financial targets are met and budgets are managed effectively

• Maintain strong guest relationships and handle feedback proactively

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall lodge performance
