About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient processing and control of creditor and debtor accounts, including invoicing, supplier payments, cash book management, and reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Creditors Invoices: match supplier invoices with delivery notes, purchase orders (POs), and goods received notes (GRNs)
- Prepare Payment of Creditors: prepare supplier reconciliations and cheque requisitions for 30-day and 60-day trade creditors
- Manage Supplier Queries: request outstanding invoices and proof of delivery (PODs reflected on supplier statements)
- Maintain Accurate Filing: maintain accurate filing of all creditors documentation including invoices, statements, delivery notes, credit notes, reconciliations, cheque requisitions, POs, GRNs, and proof of payment
- Invoices New and Used Trailers: accurately process all sales invoices for new and used trailers
- Manage Cash Book: prepare daily payment control lists based on approved payment requisitions
- Prepare Journals and Credit Notes: prepare customer-related journals and submit to the Financial Manager for approval
Requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office, excellent Excel skills, accounting systems, and familiarity with SARS
- Proven experience with creditors, debtors, invoicing, cash books, and reconciliations
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12) or relevant finance or accounting qualification
