Qualifications (Essential): Bachelors Degree in Security (NQF Level 7) or equivalent qualification in Risk Management Certified Aviation Security Professional (CASP) will be an advantage Formal functional training in: Security Management Systems Auditing Procedures Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations applicable to large warehouse environments Experience (Essential): Only candidates with the following experience will be considered: 10 years` operational experience specifically in aviation operations coordination and management Minimum 5 years hands-on experience managing Security Management Systems fully aligned to the South African Civil Aviation Regulations (SACARs) and Technical Standards (TS) Minimum 2 years experience auditing aviation operations 3 years experience in aviation security, specifically with in-depth application of SACAR Parts 108, 109, and 110 Proven experience with Integrated Quality and Safety Management Systems (IQSMS) or equivalent systems Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations and Technical Standards is essential Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership & team management skills Excellent report writing & communication abilities Analytical problem-solving skills High computer proficiency Tactical and confident decision-making Advanced auditing skills In-depth, working knowledge of CAA, SACAA regulations is non-negotiable Key

Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Auditing Conduct vulnerability assessments across all operational branches Coordinate directly with SACAA and partner airlines during audits and inspections Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans; ensure non-conformities are resolved within required timeframes Maintain full compliance with CAA/SACAA regulations and all applicable security standards Security Operations Management Ensure all cargo handling operations comply with the latest aviation security regulations (local and international) Manage and update the Air Cargo Security Manual in accordance with SACAA Technical Standards Lead development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and culture programs Oversee daily security operations, including access control, surveillance, cargo screening Participate in budgeting processes for security infrastructure needs Security Incident & Risk Management Lead incident responses, investigations, and reporting related to security breaches or incidents Implement preventive measures to minimize security threats Maintain and regularly update risk registers, risk assessments, and committee oversight Identify and address emerging security risks promptly Stakeholder & SLA Management Maintain strong relationships with aviation stakeholders (airport authorities, police, customs, etc.) Regularly review Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure validity and compliance with operational requirements Engage with security service providers to monitor performance and rectify service gaps Security Technology Oversight Oversee security technologies and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with SACAA cyber security standards Ensure 100% uptime of critical systems such as CCTV and access control Conduct regular site surveys of cargo facilities and systems Important: This is a compliance-critical position.
