Johannesburg: BI Specialist

The Mission: Join a high‑impact BI team where your expertise fuels smarter decision‑making across the business. As a BI Specialist, youll design, analyse, visualise, and optimise data solutions across the full development life cycle from discovery to delivery. Youll work closely with finance, operations, and executive stakeholders, guiding them through data‑driven insights that support strategic, timely, and intelligent business decisions. What Youll Be Delivering: Analyse business and financial reporting requirements and transform them into optimised BI solutions Design and develop BI models, dashboards, reports, and analytics using the full MS BI stack (SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, and SQL) Cover the entire BI project life cycle requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and support Conduct data quality assessments and translate findings into actionable insights for leadership Perform SQL optimisation, code reviews, refactoring, and performance tuning Collaborate with IT Ops and testing teams to ensure sustainable and stable data environments Provide technical support, training, and knowledge-sharing across the BI team Manage multiple BI initiatives under tight deadlines and deliver digestible outputs for executive audiences Monitor industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices to keep solutions innovative and future‑focused Your Technical Toolkit: Advanced SQL query writing and strong Excel (pivoting and modelling) skills BI reporting using SSRS, Power BI, dashboarding, and data visualisation Experience with SSIS or other ETL tools, data warehousing design, and tabular models (SSAS) Understanding of financial reporting, complex data interpretation, and management‑level storytelling DAX scripting (advantageous) Optional plus: MS SQL DBA experience What You Bring: Grade 12 & BI or Data Analytics Certification (required) Diploma / higher qualification (finance exposure advantageous) 2 years in BI reporting, data analysis, data mining, or analytics-focused roles Ability to work independently in a dynamic, complex environment Sharp analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong problem‑solving skills Clear communication able to present data in concise, intelligent, executive‑ready formats A team‑oriented approach, professionalism, punctuality, and commitment to integrity For more exciting IT vacancies, please visit:
