About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Technician to join our team at WMS Secure in Johannesburg. As a key member of our IT support team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for laptops, desktops, printers, and peripherals in a Windows 10/11 environment. With at least 5 years of server support and maintenance experience, you will play a critical role in maintaining the stability and performance of our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support for laptops, desktops, printers, and peripherals
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi/LAN issues, including DHCP/DNS, basic VLAN configurations, SSIDs, and captive portals
- Maintain high-quality Knowledge Base (KB) articles, asset registers, change logs, and network diagrams
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues for servers, laptops, and networking equipment
- Configure routers and wireless access points
Requirements
- At least 5 years of server support and maintenance experience
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory
- Experience with remote support applications and techniques (e.g. VPN, RDP, and Remote Management Tools)
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office products
- Good working knowledge of TCPIP networking is required
- Good knowledge of hardware components and hardware troubleshooting procedures (Servers, Laptops and Networking)
Qualifications
- International MCSE / MCSA or equivalent certification
- At least a Matriculation certificate
