Job Specification – Finance Assistant Position Title : Finance Assistant Department: Finance Reporting Line: Finance Manager / Financial Controller Location: Alberton, Johannesburg South Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time Salary Range: R8,000 – R10,000 per month Additional Requirements – The successful candidate must reside in Alberton / Johannesburg South – Must have a valid Driver’s License and own reliable transport. – The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the Company’s smoke-free workplace policy. Minimum Qualifications Essential – National Senior Certificate (Matric) – Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance / Accounting / Bookkeeping (Certificate or Diploma) Desirable – Studying towards an Accounting Diploma and/or Degree. Experience Requirements Essential – Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting support role – Demonstrated experience in processing financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy Desirable – Exposure to South African accounting standards and SARS compliance processes – Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger support Technical Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite – Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage Pastel, Xero, SAP, or similar) – Sound understanding of basic accounting principles – Ability to prepare reconciliations and financial schedules – Strong administrative and organisational capability – Knowledge & Legislative Awareness Basic understanding of: – South African tax principles (VAT, PAYE advantageous) – Internal financial controls and audit requirements – Confidentiality and data protection requirements Behavioural Competencies – High level of accuracy and attention to detail – Strong planning, prioritisation and time-management skills – Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal and communication skills – Ability to work both independently and within a team environment – Problem-solving ability with a proactive approach Personal Attributes – Professional, reliable and ethical conduct – High level of integrity and confidentiality – Willingness to learn and develop within the finance function – Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
