Job Description The Claims and Legal Manager is responsible for the effective management of the companys claims processes, while supporting legal, compliance, and regulatory functions. The role ensures accurate policy response decisions, efficient claims handling, and adherence to all applicable insurance and compliance requirements. Claims Management Manage the end-to-end claims process from notification to finalisation Receive, assess, register, and administer claims in line with policy terms and procedures Ensure all required claims documentation and information is obtained and accurately recorded Upload and maintain all claims documentation and correspondence on internal systems Liaise with brokers, loss adjusters, attorneys, co-insurers, and lead offices Appoint and manage loss adjusters on lead claims Assess third-party invoices for accuracy prior to processing Make informed policy response decisions Set and manage claims reserves and report large losses to the CEO and reinsurers Assist with claims and invoice payments, including system loading and online banking Ensure claims statuses are up to date and close inactive claims Attend and contribute to bi-monthly claims meetings Attend claim site visits when required Assist with claims statistics and reporting Legal and Compliance Assist with legal matters relating to policy wordings, claims litigation, and contracts Support the development and maintenance of a regulatory compliance framework Assist in maintaining internal policy and governance frameworks Potentially assume or support the Compliance Officer function Qualifications BCom or other relevant legal tertiary qualification FAIS Representative (RE5) mandatory Proven experience in a non-life insurance claims environment Exposure to Assets All Risks policy wordings (advantageous) Skills Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure Sound numerical and analytical ability Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills Salary/Package R60000
