About the Role

Hire Resolve’s client, a reputable law firm based in Johannesburg, is urgently seeking a skilled and experienced Litigation Secretary to join their team. As a Litigation Secretary, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to attorneys working in the litigation department.

Key Responsibilities

Typing, formatting and collating of notices and pleadings
Incorporating amendments to documents and verifying that amendments have been effected correctly
Preparing resource, counsel and client files
Strong administration and organisational skills in order to manage professionals’ practices (diary management, answering telephone calls and tracking messages in the absence of the professionals)
General office and personal administration
Preparing pre-bills and billing memos (sending same to clients)
Managing debtors with the accounts department
FICA administration: following up to ensure the FICA requirements are complete
Liaise with clients, counsel, presiding officers, experts and other service providers when instructed to do so by lawyers
Assisting in preparation of tender submissions and presentations
Flight and accommodation arrangements
Handling of deceased estate

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Litigation Secretary in a law firm
Minimum 5 years experience as a litigation secretary
Excellent knowledge of MS Word programs (more specifically MS Word 2010 and Excel)
Knowledge on Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system
Experience in working on deceased estate matters
Knowledge on FileSite
Sound working knowledge of CourtOnline and CaseLines.
Experience in High Court litigation (motion proceedings).
Secretarial diploma/legal secretarial diploma/paralegal qualification (advantageous)
Matric essential
