Job Summary
Employer Description Our client is an industrial pumps manufacturer. Job Description The candidate will be required to design components to suit customised pump arrangements, modify existing drawings where necessary and provide advice to machine-shops, fabricators and fitters to ensure the design is implemented correctly through to installation. You will be responsible for the following: Create new designs where necessary, complete with cutting lists and machining/fabrication drawings. Review customer and sales problems/requests, to evaluate and provide technical solutions to product performance in the field. Review manufacturing drawings and work closely with the production team to provide technical support during the manufacturing and assembly process. Assist the Sales Department with new designs or adjustments to existing designs for baseplates, vertical pumps, pontoons, walkaways and tanks. Provide technical support to the sales department on new products. Identify material requirements and provide assistance with the bill of materials generated and verify the bill of materials per job file received. Select appropriate materials and components for designs. Responsible to ensure adherence to ISO quality standards and procedures. Evaluate machine-shop and fabricator abilities and capacities, and provide feedback to procurement to improve lead times, cost management and quality. Qualifications BTech/BSc Mechanical Engineering Registered as a Professional Engineer Skills Minimum of 8 years experience in mechanical design and fabrication detailing. Able to interpret engineering drawings, assist machine-shops and fabricators with machine-setup & interpretation of drawings. Good general knowledge of pump application, mechanical and hydraulic loading, engineering concepts. Knowledge of material strengths, fits and tolerances. Hands-on experience with design, engineering and/or fabrication of pump components. Sound knowledge of Metallurgy. Experience on Vault. Proficient computer skills in Autodesk packages, Product Design & Manufacturing: CAD Software, Autodesk Inventor, 3ds max, Navisworks, Vault, Fusion.
