About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Team Leader to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our production department, you will be responsible for leading by example and promoting a positive and productive team culture. You will also be responsible for managing and supervising the production team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities

- Handle HR-related challenges as required, including leave planning and employee queries
- Ensure daily planned schedules and productivity targets are achieved
- Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimise efficiency, productivity, and quality
- Monitor and optimise production workflows to minimise waste, reduce downtime, and maximise output
- Identify and address bottlenecks or constraints within the production process
- Execute and maintain quality control processes to ensure products meet required quality standards
- Collaborate with the technical team to identify and resolve quality issues promptly
- Improve efficiency and cost control measures
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce waste, and improve customer satisfaction
- Monitor 5S standards within the department and ensure machinery and equipment are kept clean
- Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency in production processes
- Communicate effectively with production staff, other departments, and management to ensure seamless workflow and prompt issue resolution
- Participate in production planning to meet customer deadlines and expectations
- Ensure all tasks are executed safely in accordance with company policies, procedures, equipment regulations, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Report unsafe acts, working conditions, or injuries on duty to the supervisor immediately
Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Operations Management, Production Management or equivalent
- Leadership and management training or certification, i.e. supervisory or junior management courses
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- 3-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably within the promotional products industry
- Proven leadership and management experience
- Strong knowledge of production planning, quality control, and productivity management principles
- Strong communication skills
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
