What You’ll Be Doing:

• Becoming the go-to expert for identifying, assessing, and monitoring market risks.
• Designing and enhancing risk reports that keep leadership in the know at all times.
• Helping the team understand what the market is saying — and what it might say next.
• Creating bespoke stress tests and predictive scenarios (because you’re basically a market fortune-teller).
• Coding in Python, building dashboards in Tableau/Power BI, and bringing data to life in the coolest way possible.
• Collaborating with traders, senior management, and global risk managers.
• Making sure that risks are understood, valued correctly, and managed strategically 

What You Need to Bring:

• A Bachelor’s in Science (a Master’s? Even better!)
• Experience in market risk — if you’ve dabbled in oil or gas, that’s a bonus
• Strong Python skills (you and Python must be tight)
• A sharp analytical mind and top-tier problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication — you know how to break down complex things without confusing people
• The confidence to challenge ideas constructively
• A flexible team spirit and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of daily and monthly P&L and position reports, with clear attribution and commentary for senior stakeholders.
• Oversee CTRM system integrity, support enhancements, and coordinate the resolution of technical issues.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 3 to 5 Risk Analysts, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Drive continuous improvement and participate in strategic projects across commodity desks and global offices.

 
Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Education:
• Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification in Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• CA(SA) advantageous; and CFA/FRM a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in risk management, product risk, or middle office roles.
• At least 3 years leadership or team management experience.
• Prior experience in a trading or financial services environment preferred.
• Skills:
• Advanced MS Excel and Power BI skills.
• Experience with CTRM systems highly beneficial.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to lead under pressure, manage complex data, and drive operational excellence.
• Other Requirements:
• Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
• Excellent English communication skills – written and verbal.
