Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet manufacturing requirements, including sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and securing the best pricing and terms for materials, equipment, and services.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and maintain a strong understanding of market trends, pricing, and industry best practices.
- Evaluate supplier performance through vendor assessments and regular audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with production schedules and demand forecasts, and proactively address any potential supply chain disruptions.
- Manage the purchase order process, including reviewing requests, selecting suppliers, and negotiating terms and conditions to optimize supplier performance and minimize costs.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory management strategies to maximize working capital efficiency while minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, leveraging these partnerships to continuously improve quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work closely with the legal and compliance teams to ensure contract terms and conditions are adhered to and manage any supplier disputes or performance issues as they arise.
- Stay updated on industry trends, attend conferences, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance procurement knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of proven experience working as a procurement agent in the manufacturing industry.
- In-depth understanding of procurement best practices, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Written and Verbal) in both English and Afrikaans
- Proficient in using procurement software and systems.
- Knowledge of local and international procurement regulations, customs procedures, and import/export processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Must have a valid SA drivers license.
