Job Summary
Role Purpose
The CNC Setter will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines using both manual G & M code programming and Edgecam software. This role requires strong hands-on machining expertise, accuracy, and the ability to work independently within a precision engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Setup
- Write and modify G & M code programs manually to suit specific production needs.
- Use Edgecam software to generate CNC programs where required.
- Set up CNC machinery, including tooling, fixtures, and zero points for production runs.
Machining Operations
- Operate CNC mills and lathes to produce high-precision components.
- Adjust offsets and tooling during production for dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using precision measurement tools.
Maintenance & Optimization
- Monitor machine performance and report faults or maintenance needs.
- Continuously improve setup and production efficiency.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations in line with safety standards.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant technical trade qualification or CNC Machining Certification
- Strong experience in manual G & M code programming
- Proficiency with Edgecam or similar CAD/CAM software
- 3+ years of CNC setting and programming experience in a precision engineering environment
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas control systems
