Job Summary
Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the smooth dispatch of orders and the efficient supervision of floor operations in both the Potatoes and Onions sections. The role involves order prioritization, supervision of dispatch staff and forklift drivers, stock receiving, and trading floor reorganization in preparation for night operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Dispatching
- Prioritize, manage, and dispatch customer orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supervise and coordinate the Forklift Driver team to ensure efficient loading and dispatching.
- Enforce discipline and productivity standards within the forklift team.
- Support the sales team with operational requirements related to dispatching and customer service.
Afternoon Shift Supervision
- Supervise all afternoon shift floor assistants and forklift drivers in the Onions Section.
- Oversee the reorganization of the trading floor to ensure readiness for nightshift deliveries.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the trading floor (housekeeping supervision).
- Receive incoming deliveries of onions from producers and verify delivery accuracy and quality.
- Accurately capture received stock into the market’s inventory system.
Skills & Competencies Required:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Attention to detail, especially in stock receiving and order dispatching
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy, especially in inventory or dispatch systems
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role in a produce trading or distribution environment
- Familiarity with dispatching processes and floor operations in fresh produce markets
- Forklift operation oversight and safety standards understanding
