Business Unit: Motus Car Rental Reports to: IT Infrastructure & Operations Senior Manager Based at/in: Bruma (Zulberg Close), Johannesburg Position overall objective We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and support our database environments as well as our integration platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in both system administration and integration development, be able to work flexible hours, collaborate effectively within a team, and provide guidance to junior staff members. This role requires someone who can ensure database and integration stability, performance, and security while supporting overall organisational goals. Job Outputs Administer, maintain, and support Adabas databases and related systems. Manage and configure systems running on Linux environments. Support and maintain ApplinX and WebMethods platforms. Ensure optimal database performance, availability, and reliability. Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery strategies. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and projects. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and process guides. Participate in after-hours support and flexible working schedules when required. Minimum Experience 3 years’ experience relevant work experience. Minimum Qualification Grade 12/ Senior Certificate National Diploma in IT; Computer Science or a related discipline Minimum Requirements Strong experience with Adabas database administration. Solid knowledge of Linux operating systems. Hands-on experience with ApplinX. Experience with Software AG WebMethods or similar integration tools. Understanding of database security best practices. Familiarity with monitoring tools, scripting, and automation.
