Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare cost estimates and budgets for proposed projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
2. Conduct cost analysis, value engineering, and risk assessment to ensure projects are completed within budget.
3. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to evaluate project specifications and requirements.
4. Monitor project progress and financial performance, identifying any discrepancies and recommending solutions.
5. Prepare and submit progress reports, financial forecasts, and variation orders to stakeholders.
6. Analyze and negotiate contract terms and conditions with vendors and subcontractors.
7. Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and quality control procedures.
8. Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and payment applications.
9. Provide support and guidance to junior quantity surveyors and project teams.
10. Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to optimize project outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity surveying for retail and commercial projects.
3. Proficiency in cost estimation, cost control, and contract management.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
6. Knowledge of building regulations, construction methods, and industry best practices.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software.
8. Professional accreditation from a recognized institution (e.g., RICS, SACQSP) is preferred.
