A Waiter is responsible for providing exceptional dining service to guests by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. The Waiter plays a key role in representing the restaurants brand, maintaining service standards, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their meal. Key Responsibilities Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables when required. Present menus and explain daily specials or promotions. Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen and bar. Serve meals and drinks promptly and professionally. Check on guests regularly to ensure satisfaction and handle additional requests. Clear tables efficiently and reset them for the next service. Process payments and handle cash or card transactions correctly. Maintain a clean and organised dining area. Follow all health, hygiene, and safety regulations. Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow. Upsell food and beverage items to increase sales. Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalate when necessary. Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. Qualifications & Experience Matric (Grade 12) preferred. Previous experience as a waiter/waitress in a restaurant, hotel, lodge, or caf (advantageous). Basic knowledge of food and beverage service. POS system experience is beneficial. Skills & Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service orientation and a friendly, outgoing personality. Working Conditions Shifts may include weekends, evenings, public holidays, and split shifts. Work environment includes restaurants, hotels, lodges, bars, or events/banqueting settings.
