About the Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Draughtsperson (Junior to Mid-Level) to join our Mechanical Engineering Department. This role is ideal for a technically minded draughtsperson who has a solid foundation in mechanical draughting and is eager to further develop their skills in a practical, production-focused engineering environment.
You will work closely with senior draughtsmen and engineers, assisting with the development of accurate 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and layouts for fabricated mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
– Assisting with the creation and updating of 3D models and technical drawings
– Supporting the preparation of fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings
– Producing drawings for industrial fans, pressure vessels, and associated components
– Assisting with material take-offs (MTOs) and bill of materials accuracy
– Using Inventor and AutoCAD to develop and revise engineering drawings
– Applying guidance from senior team members to refine designs and ensure accuracy
– Maintaining drawing registers, revision control, and organised design libraries
– Collaborating with engineering and production teams to support design integration
– Adhering to internal drafting standards and relevant industry codes
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
– N4–N6 or Diploma in Mechanical Draughting (or equivalent)
– Approximately 1–5 years’ experience in a mechanical draughting role
(Graduates or junior draughtspeople with strong technical aptitude will be considered)
– Working knowledge of Inventor and AutoCAD
– Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and fabrication processes
– Exposure to industry design codes (ASME, SANS, EN) will be advantageous
– Good attention to detail and drawing accuracy
– Willingness to learn and take technical guidance
– Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
– Ability to manage deadlines with appropriate supervision
