Based in Mogalakwena Mine, Mokopane, Limpopo, South Africa. The Field Engineer will provide field engineering services, primarily in the mining, metals, and heavy industries, at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Engineer

1. Provide technical services as it relates to routine and moderately complex maintenance and/or repair of control systems and their components
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues as they relate to control systems and their components
3. Communicate with engineers at customer sites on technical questions and specifications.
4. Provide after-hours support in person and/or over the phone.
5. Provide technical information and data to Administrative Assistant for the creation of quotations and work scopes. Information includes job repair requirements, parts for order and use, and associated cost.
6. Complete necessary service, time tracking, and expense documentation.
7. Maintain tools and test equipment properly.
8. Communicate with account managers regarding the status of work as it applies to their customers.
9. Communicate with sales personnel regarding customer questions.
10. Identify and assist with repair and manufacturing training needs.
11. Ensure that all completed work meets the companys Standards and complies with companys ISO Quality System.
12. Communicate clearly, concisely, and with accuracy to employees, customers, and vendors.

Safety

1. Observe all safety procedures and use proper safety equipment as needed.
2. Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment at all times.
3. Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Engineering related qualification Diploma or an equivalent combination of relevant education
• Instrumentation / Electrical / Auto Electrical Trade Test
• 5 years engineering experience as instrumentation technician, field service and/or similar industrial environment with focus on automation and advanced instrumentation systems.
• Mining, metals, and/or automation industry experience preferred.
• Experience on opencast drills or shovel will be highly advantageous
• 3 years relevant management experience
• Project management experience
• Advanced experience in communication protocol (Modbus, Canbus, Ethernet, etc.)
• Advanced experience in control systems ( Field Instruments, I/Os etc)
• Knowledge of Allan Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) and fault finding
• Advanced experience in HMI systems
• Knowledge of similar programable devices from ABB and Siemens is advantageous
• Registered as Professional Engineer with ECSA or
• Registered as Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA is advantageous
