Job Description

About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Administrator / Bookkeeper to join our growing construction company. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining our financial records, managing accounts, and ensuring smooth financial operations across our construction projects. Key Responsibilities Financial Management: – Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems – Process accounts payable and accounts receivable – Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow – Prepare and process invoices for construction projects – Monitor project budgets and track expenses against estimates Construction-Specific Duties: – Manage subcontractor payments and retention schedules – Track and process materials purchases and supplier invoices – Handle progress billing and payment applications – Maintain job costing records for multiple construction projects – Process payroll and manage employee expense claims Administrative Support: – Prepare monthly financial reports and statements – Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures – Maintain filing systems for financial documentation – Support management with budget preparation and forecasting – Liaise with external accountants and auditors Compliance: – Ensure compliance with tax requirements and filing deadlines – Maintain proper documentation for tax and audit purposes – Stay current with accounting regulations and best practices Required Qualifications – Proven experience as a bookkeeper or finance administrator (minimum 2-3 years) – Experience in the construction industry is highly advantageous – Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, Sageone) – Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office Suite – Understanding of job costing and project-based accounting – Excellent attention to detail and accuracy – Strong organizational and time management skills Desired Skills – Familiarity with construction terminology and processes – Experience with progress claims and retention management – Knowledge of contractor payment schedules – Ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously – Strong communication skills for liaising with contractors and suppliers – Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach Start Date: February Salary: Negotiable
