An automation company in Nelspruit is seeking an Automation engineer.

“Design, develop, maintain and troubleshoot industrial automation systems using PLC, SCADA, HMI, drives, sensors, 
instrumentation and networking technologies.”

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

– Draft and implement PLC logic (Phoenix Contact, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Omron, AB, ABB etc as needed).
– Develop and configure SCADA/HMI interfaces and dashboards.
– Perform onsite commissioning, FAT, SAT, and system integration work.
– Troubleshoot automation hardware and comms issues (I/O faults, encoder problems, comms buses, sensors, 
VFDs, etc.).
– Interpret electrical diagrams, P&IDs, loop drawings.
– Implement industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, MQTT etc).
– Ensure system compliance with safety standards and risk assessments.
– Prepare documentation (functional specs, manuals, IO lists, as-builts).

JUNIOR AUTOMATION ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS

– National Diploma / BTech / Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering / Process Instrumentation.
– 0–3 years’ relevant experience.
– Solid understanding of PLC basics, ladder logic, instrumentation fundamentals, sensors, encoders, motors, VSDs.
– Willingness to travel and get hands dirty onsite.
– Remuneration: R15,000 – R25,000 CTC, aligned with experience and qualifications

SENIOR AUTOMATION ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS

– 5+ years’ hands-on automation engineering experience.
– Strong proficiency with at least one major PLC/SCADA platform.
– Ability to lead projects, mentor juniors, and interface with clients.
– Able to design complete automation systems end-to-end (electrical + commissioning + integration).
– Remuneration: R25,000 – R100,000 CTC, aligned with experience and qualifications
