- Previous management experience essential.
- Proven experience in driving and motivating a team to supply tooling requirements as well as developing the potential of all team members.
- Experience in Tooling – ability to make tools and understands Milling and Turning machines and can estimate machining times and costings.
- Material planning and tool manufacturing planning.
- CAD experience and ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Responsibility for the management of the Tool Room and Machine Shop facilities and associated employees. Supervise, develop and motivate employees.
- Schedule work assignments and allocate resources to meet production deadlines.
- Support development of Tool Room and Machine Shop employees and monitor performance through Performance Reviews and regular one-on-ones.
- Ensure the team understands the mechanisms of the Tool Room and Machine Shop and their role within the organisation and the duties of the team.
- Resolve any issues related to employee conflicts
- Tooling
- Maintain a detailed inventory of tools and equipment and ensure their proper storage and maintenance.
- Conduct regular audits of tools and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Control tool repair jobs and cost.
- Ensuring the day to day running of the department is adequately resourced to support KPI’s.
- Provide technical support for Tooling and Productivity improvement projects.
- Ensure the planning and resourcing of day-to-day activities meet demand.
- Stock control and management.
- Maintain and improve mechanisms for running the Tool Room and Machine Shop, including surveying and measuring stock levels and delivery, process, outcomes and expenditure and disseminate feedback as appropriate.
- Monthly reporting, or as otherwise required.
- Assist in budget preparation, and responsibility to adhere to budgets and plan to maximise profitability.
- Planning of tool manufacturing – able to provide accurate delivery dates
- Managing of the tool manufacturing plans
- Managing of the committed delivery dates for tools
- Meet targets.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in tool room technologies and management practices.
- Safety Compliance
- Enforce safety policies and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report any hazards or incidents.
- Train employees on appropriate machine operation, tool handling and safety protocols
- Ensure that you continuously develop yourself so that you keep abreast with new technology and developments in your line of duty.
- Shall maintain acceptable standards of cleanliness at the workplace.
- Shall ensure personal hygiene.
- Shall keep machinery and equipment and other related items in their assigned places and maintain an orderly approach to all work.
- Maintain safety standards by ensuring safe working methods.
- Shall use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and obey all the safety signs.
- Shall report processes or people that contravene any safety, health, environmental and quality standards and practices.
- Ensure all employees in their department adhere to the duties and responsibilities mentioned above.
