About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Stable Manager to join our client’s luxury private game reserve in the Northern Cape. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the care and welfare of horses, supporting guest riding experiences, and ensuring exceptional standards of animal care and performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the daily care, feeding, grooming, and exercise of all horses
• Develop and implement training programs for horses and riders
• Supervise and manage stable staff, ensuring high standards of animal care and performance
• Maintain stables, paddocks, and associated facilities in excellent condition
• Manage inventory of feed, equipment, and supplies, including ordering and stock control
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare standards for both horses and staff
• Coordinate guest riding activities, ensuring safety and exceptional experiences
• Maintain records of horse health, training progress, and maintenance schedules
• Assist with breeding, veterinary care, and farrier schedules where required
Requirements
Proven experience managing stables in a lodge, game reserve, or equestrian environment. Strong equestrian skills and knowledge of horse training, care, and welfare. Leadership and staff management experience. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure in a remote environment. Must hold a valid driver’s licence.
