Job Description

Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Junior Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to join a dynamic and growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, excellent reconciliation skills, and solid VAT experience.

Key Responsibilities

Process and maintain accounting records, cashbooks, and account reconciliations accurately and timeously across various entities
Prepare VAT calculations and reconciliations and assist with the submission of VAT returns to SARS
Prepare and submit EMP201 returns
Assist with payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and payroll reporting
Support senior accountants with the preparation of working papers, audit files, and annual financial statements
Assist clients with accounting queries and provide professional support where required
Assist with responding to SARS VAT queries, audits, and verifications when required
Prepare management and financial reports for both internal and client use

Minimum Requirements

3–5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting
Experience working with multiple clients or entities is advantageous
Strong VAT processing and reconciliation experience is essential
Experience with cloud accounting systems such as Xero and QuickBooks
Understanding of payroll processes and EMP201 submissions

Software Knowledge
Experience working with the following systems will be highly advantageous

Xero
QuickBooks
Sage
SimplePay
