About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join our design department team in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering engineering designs and solutions that meet customer requirements and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & detailing of small special purpose applications
- Establishing most effective design solution to achieve required specification
- Specifying components for procurement purposes
- Detailing of designs in conjunction with assigned Senior Design Engineer/Design Engineer
- ECR Designs & detailing for small fixtures and tools
- Assembly assistance during the assembly phase of the project
- Creating design release packages for manufacturing purposes
- Creating final designs within a controlled budget environment
- Complying with ISO procedures of Jendamark
- Actively reducing costs and providing suggestions for cost savings
Requirements
- Formal tertiary education: N. Dip or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Degree
- Driver’s License: Code 8 required
- Languages: English (speak, read, and write); Afrikaans (speak, read, and write)
- German language skills are advantageous
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a design capacity
- Competent in concept development, design calculations, and FMEAs
- Machine calculations & FEA experience
- Understanding of material specification & processes
