Job Summary
Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assemble and repair Lithium Ion & Lead Acid batteries and chargers in a cost-efficient manner by using the correct equipment, to the required industry and safety standards and assist with other duties.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Build new batteries with correct layout and polarity.
- Cut and use packing correctly to stabilize cells in tank.
- Place the correct cells in the correct tank according to machine model.
- Paint, clean and mark steel tanks as and when necessary.
- Need to do acid adjustments as and when required.
- Build batteries in specified time frame.
- Keep the workshop clean and tidy.
- Deliver batteries and chargers.
- Correct use of multi-meter to test and fault find complete batteries.
- Battery reports – read, understand and respond appropriately.
- Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting / repairs, in event of breakdown of equipment; communicate what repairs are needed by advising the customer and/or supervisor.
- Strip, rebuild and service Lead Acid/Lithium batteries and chargers.
- Access, repair and replace faulty accessories.
- Remove cells wedged in the tank appropriately and safely.
- Complete quality check once the assembly process is complete.
- Ensure OHSACT requirements are met in all actions on company and client premises; maintain a safe work environment by verifying batteries and chargers are safe to operate; following standards and procedures and in general complying with legal regulation.

Minimum Requirements, Skills and Experience:
- Preferred Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Trade test certificate , mechanic
- Code 08 or 10 drivers license
- Valid forklift license
- Qualified Electrician/electronics, plus experience with batteries and charging equipment or studying towards Electrical/electronic qualification.
- General working knowledge of batteries and chargers electrical systems.
- Excellent work ethic honest, reliable, hardworking, dedicated and takes pride in work carried out.
- Highly developed prioritizing and multi-tasking skills; strong sense of urgency; problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with people at all levels in an organization.
- Dedication to service excellence in every aspect of work carried out, strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision and still complete tasks timeously; enthusiastic, self-motivated and can use own initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to understand and follow safety measures and precautions.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical information.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, operations manuals and manufacturers specifications.
- Ability to identify and correctly utilize relevant diagnostic equipment and specialized tools.
- Willingness and capability to continue learning and growing with new technology and models.
- Ability to receive constructive criticism.
- Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition.
- Must be of sober habits and declared fit to do this job
- Will work with other departments at branch level : Parts, Rental, Service, Sales
