We are looking for a reliable and proactive Junior Buyer / Sourcing Assistant to support daily plant operations by managing local and urgent purchases. This hands-on, factory-floor-facing role involves sourcing consumables, tools, spare parts, and servicesideal for a junior candidate starting a career in procurement or operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the daily purchasing of factory requirements, including:
  • General tools, cleaning items, lubricants, PPE, basic spares, stationery, etc.
  • Emergency or breakdown-related parts from nearby vendors.
• Collect purchase requests and specifications from maintenance, production, and admin teams.
• Source quotes from approved or local suppliers and help negotiate prices.
• Raise purchase requisitions and submit for approvals in accordance with company policy.
• Track deliveries, manage petty cash (if applicable), and ensure items reach the requesting department.
• Maintain proper records of purchases, invoices, and delivery notes.
• Coordinate with the storekeeper and report stock shortages of recurring sundries.
• Perform occasional site visits to local suppliers or service providers.
• Assist the plant manager or procurement officer with any ad-hoc sourcing tasks.

Requirements:

• Matric or NQF Level 4 (Higher Certificate or Diploma in Procurement/Logistics is a plus).
• 5- 6 years of experience in plant-level purchasing or administration in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Must be able to communicate in English and at least one local language.
• Strong organizational skills and a sense of urgency in task completion.
• Valid drivers license and ability to visit nearby vendors (advantageous).
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel and/or purchasing software is desirable.
