About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Development Executive to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients, and driving sales growth. This is a critical role that requires a proactive approach to market research, lead generation, and closing deals to expand our customer base and enhance our market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new supply chain business opportunities in various industrial sectors
  • Analyse customer and potential client needs and tailor solutions to meet their specific supply chain requirements
  • Build a strong customer pipeline through cross-selling in the mining industry and across all other industrial sectors
  • Develop and sustain robust relationships with key decision-makers in prospective client organizations
  • Stay informed about activities of potential clients to seize opportunities as they arise
  • Develop and implement business growth strategies/plans to attract new clients, expand the customer base, and deliver required growth margins
  • Lead the sales process from initial prospecting to finalizing and closing deals
  • Implement a business intelligence system targeting potential clients (input and output pricing, materials, industry trends, and market conditions and customer base)
  • Submit accurate and timely forecasts for new business generation and annual budgets
  • Provide monthly reports comparing actual progress to forecasted targets
  • Accurately assess the financial viability and conduct risk analysis of potential clients
  • Consistently achieve both individual and departmental business sales targets on a monthly basis

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications or professional training in sales or business development is a plus
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in business development or sales, preferably in the supply chain, mining, or related industries
  • Proven experience in managing the full sales cycle, from prospecting to closing
  • At least 3 years at senior management level having led multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Results-driven with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Strong presentation skills, technological proficiency, and analytical skills
  • High EQ
  • Team player
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to work autonomously
