Retail Store Relief Manager Plastics & Homeware Location: Pretoria / Johannesburg (Gauteng Region) Base Store: Pretoria Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Area Manager Are you a hands-on retail leader who can manage a store independently and provide operational support across multiple sites when needed? This is an exciting opportunity for a Retail Store Relief Manager to be based at a home store while roaming between stores in the Pretoria and Johannesburg area to support operations, stabilise performance, and lead store teams where required. This role is perfect for someone who is strong in people management, stock control, risk management, and customer service, and who thrives on variety and operational challenges in a growing plastics and homeware retail brand. Key Responsibilities: Store Operations & Performance Manage the day-to-day operations and overall performance of your base store and any store you are supporting. Step in to lead stores during management absences, peak periods, or operational challenges. Ensure consistent implementation of company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Report store performance, risks, and operational matters to the Area Manager. People Management Lead, supervise, and support store staff at the base store and any relief stores. Manage staff scheduling, attendance, and productivity, ensuring teams deliver results. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to employees. Address performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters in line with company procedures. Stock Management & Control (Core Focus) Maintain accurate stock levels through receiving, replenishment, and rotation. Conduct stock takes, cycle counts, and variance investigations. Minimise shrinkage, damages, and losses through strong controls and team accountability. Ensure correct pricing, merchandising, and product availability. Risk Management & Compliance Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and stock-related risks. Ensure compliance with loss prevention, health & safety, and security procedures. Customer Service & Store Performance Drive consistent customer service standards across all stores you manage or support. Identify opportunities to enhance customer experience and store performance. Reporting & Administration Complete accurate store reporting, people records, stock records, and administrative controls. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Stock Accuracy: Maintain 98% or higher stock accuracy. Shrinkage: Kept within company-approved targets . Sales Performance: Meet or support stores in achieving monthly sales targets. Gross Margin: Maintain planned margins through effective stock control. Customer Service: Improved customer feedback and satisfaction scores. Compliance: 100% adherence to operational, risk, and safety procedures. Operational Stability: Smooth handovers and improved store performance during relief periods. Requirements: Proven experience as a Retail Store Manager or Relief Manager. Strong knowledge of people management, stock control, and retail procedures. Willingness and ability to roam between stores in the Johannesburg / Pretoria area when required. Hands-on, adaptable, and results-driven. Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid drivers license and reliable transport (advantageous). Why Join Us?
