Job Description

The Sommelier is responsible for providing exceptional service in the selection, purchase, and storage of wines for a restaurant or hotel. The Sommelier must possess a comprehensive knowledge of wines, including wine service techniques, and be able to effectively communicate their knowledge to guests. They will assist in the development of wine lists, making recommendations for wine pairings with meals, and providing educational materials for guests. The Sommelier will also be responsible for maintaining proper storage conditions for all wines, monitoring inventory, and ordering bottles from suppliers Sommelier Duties Advise customers on suitable wine selections to accompany their meals Develop wine lists for restaurants and other establishments Train wait staff on proper wine service Order and purchase wine from wholesalers and distributors Ensure wine storage areas are properly maintained and organized Taste wines and provide reviews and ratings Sommelier Skills Ability to recommend wines based on customer preferences Capability to properly store and serve wine Excellent customer service skills Cellar management Ability to create wine lists
