Organogram Superior: Business Manager: Renewable Energy This position: Master Solar Technician Solar Subordinates: Currently no subordinates Aim: To have subordinates such as Electrician – Solar Technician Solar Junior Technician – Solar Employment Specification Education & Experience (minimum requirements to perform the job) School: Matric Post School: Electrical Engineer Degree/B Tech or similar (must have practical experience) AND / OR Qualified Electrician with Wiremans License (must be excellent communicator) Management Development programme will be advantageous Job Related: Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License Excellent computer skills (incl. Microsoft) Experience: Day-to-day operational and business management Project Management and Planning Design work Managing a team of people will happen in the future Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, and systems Excellent knowledge and understanding of electrical design and maintenance processes Solar systems and installation experience will be needed. Required competencies to meet the job outcomes: Fluent in English Excellent verbal and written communication skills Interpersonal relationship skills Excellent self-management Expert knowledge of electrical reticulation and wiring Planning and follow through of all work-related activities Ability to analyse problems and strategize for better solutions Ability to negotiate, establish, and administer contracts Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently Accurate and precise attention to detail Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels Goal-oriented, organized team player Certificate of medical fitness Physical Demands & Work Environment A reasonable amount of time will be spent out of the office Physical demands are those required to work on a construction site and/or existing facility, when necessary. Must be able to work at heights, when necessary. Drive a motor vehicle according to standards on public roads. A regular amount of overtime and standby duties to be performed, including the requirement to work on weekends when the project require such. The work is performed inside and outside buildings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The management of the solar department and all its functions, including but not limited to client interaction and planning, designing, procuring and installing solar solutions to prospective clients Estimating and establishing cost parameters and budgets for purchases Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers Create and maintain good relationships with customers Making professional decisions in a fast-paced environment Maintain records of COCs and other important data Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality Oversee projects and ensure high quality standards at met Create and maintain inventory of all incoming and current supplies Maintain and update list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development Working with team members to complete duties as needed Ensure the Company complies with Health & Safety requirements General This Job Specification indicates only the main duties and responsibilities of the position and therefore is not intended as an exhaustive list.
