Roodepoort: Mechanical Design Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities: Design of new equipment, product support, and continuous improvement of existing equipment. Oversee the full product/project lifecycle, from conceptualization through to design, manufacturing, testing, and trialling. Conduct underground site visits as required. Provide technical assistance to production on equipment-related issues. Participate in design reviews and technical discussions. Develop and test prototypes. Check and approve drawings and material lists generated by staff. Generate and review product documentation. Support production, sales, and suppliers with part numbers, queries, and costings. Assist suppliers with drawing, manufacturing, material, or quality-related queries. Minimum Requirements: B.Eng. Mechanical (M.Eng. advantageous). Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Strong problem-solving and objective-driven mindset. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint essential). Exposure to SolidWorks and/or Enterprise PDM beneficial. Knowledge of valves and understanding of relevant codes (ASME, ANSI, BS, EN) for pressure vessels, welding, and valves advantageous. CAD, FEA, and CFD knowledge would be a strong advantage.
