About the Role
A 60-room hotel in Saldanha Bay is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to oversee its culinary operations and ensure exceptional dining experiences for its guests. As a key member of the hotel’s management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing budgets, planning menus, creating new dishes, and maintaining high standards of food safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all company policies, procedures, and standard operating processes are adhered to
- Efficiently run the kitchen
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to company standards (quality, quantity, and safety)
- Regularly update menus to ensure freshness, seasonal appropriateness, and reflection of global trends
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Ensure dishes are prepared according to specification and served at correct quality, portion size, and temperature
- Properly arrange and garnish food
- Prepare kitchen cleaning rosters and supervise cleaning schedules
- Hold daily meetings with the team to ensure effective handovers and address any kitchen issues
Requirements
- Grade 12
- A formal culinary qualification
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the culinary industry
- Demonstrated experience in managing a culinary team
- Expertise in recipe development, menu planning, and food cost management
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
