We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level IT infrastructure to ensure optimal system performance, reliability, and security. You will play a key role in leading technical projects, troubleshooting complex issues, and mentoring junior engineers. What you’ll do: To ensure the long-term success of the Data Layer contract and maintain client satisfaction, we recommend appointing an experienced individual with strong leadership and technical capabilities for this role to create resilience within the team. It is the systems engineer’s role to make sure that when incidents and requests are assigned, it is resolved promptly by following and creating the correct processes and procedures. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Incident and request Management (tight SLAs) Build, maintain and improve client relationships Demonstrate and apply problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Researching and applying new/enhanced technologies Standby duties: Promote teamwork and maintain good team relationships Communicate effectively Follow, create and review technical processes and procedures Complying with the corporate, company, and regulatory policies and procedures Facilitate and coordinate changes in the environment Manage security and access management in the environment Perform capacity management to make sure no service failures occur because of capacity issues Use and configure monitoring tools to increase the availability of services supported in the environment Make sure the CMDB has a 99% accuracy Assist with projects Conform to all SLA Perform patch management and assist with maintenance windows activities Resources should be based in the Secunda due to the standby function that is required on the contract as this will be a 24X7 service. Your expertise: Statistics and trend analysis Data representation, reading graphs, working with unique data or outliers. Excel calculations and formulas Reporting and dashboard creation and administration Ad-hoc reporting Automation optimisation and best practices Power tools like Power Query, Power Automate and Power BI Power automation: Troubleshooting, optimization, flow design. Data transformation, optimization, and cleanup. Data collection, including extracting and planning the flow of data. SQL administration and maintenance, High availability, failover, agent jobs, TSQL and SSMS management studio. Experience in the following would be an advantage: VMware Backup and Restore Patch management! Windows server administration and troubleshooting, including basic knowledge of components. Knowledge of ITIL frameworks, best practices Documentation and knowledge transfer and best practices Anti-virus software OT application support, Firmware updates, patches and vulnerability management Qualifications required: Relevant IT Diploma or Degree (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field) and Professional Certifications Other information applicable to the opportunity: Permanent Position Location: Secunda Why work for us?
