About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Artisan – Horizontal Boring Mill Operator to join our team in South Africa. As an Artisan, you will be responsible for executing machining operations, inspecting workpieces, and maintaining high levels of quality control. You will work closely with the Production Foreman to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure seamless production.
Key Responsibilities
- Work according to planning instructions, drawing specifications, and tolerances.
- Check planning, drawing, and material issued correctly before commencing work; do not accept work without the necessary documentation.
- Consistently execute the “first off” inspection prior to commencing with the batch of work, identify the item, and sign job card off.
- Always mark work piece with job number and transfer cast numbers if applicable for identification purposes.
- Ensure that all measuring and test equipment used in execution of job is calibrated, handled, and stored in such a manner as to afford maximum protection.
- Together with the Production Foreman, establish priorities, finishing date, and sequences for manufacturing according to the job card and planning.
- Responsible for housekeeping in own working environment, always comply with Company safety rules and regulations.
- Reports any manufacturing (drawings/specification/etc.), machine, equipment non-conformity to the Production Foreman to prevent downtime and late deliveries.
- Ensure that all job packages are signed off and the correct job clocking procedure is followed.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a similar machining operation role
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Matric certificate (or equivalent)
