About the Role

The Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by promoting and selling decorative, industrial, and automotive paint products and related tools to contractors, body shops, construction companies, retailers, and industrial clients. The role focuses on building long-term customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and providing expert product advice and coating solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets for paint and related products.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the decorative, industrial, and automotive sectors.
  • Maintain and grow existing customer accounts including contractors, panel beaters, builders, and DIY retailers.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and site inspections to understand project requirements.
  • Prepare and present quotations and technical product recommendations.
  • Provide expert advice on paint systems, coatings, surface preparation, and application methods.
  • Recommend suitable products for different surfaces, environments, and project specifications.
  • Demonstrate and promote leading brands such as Plascon, Jotun, and PPG automotive coatings.
  • Assist clients with colour matching, paint specifications, and product selection.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Sales Representative to drive sales by promoting and selling high-end, imported technical and industrial products to both end-users (e.g., farmers) and OEM clients in Port Elizabeth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers in the Eastern Cape, including end-users (e.g., agriculture sector) and OEM clients.
  • Promote and sell a product mix that includes approximately 20% Chesterton products and 80% other premium imported items.
  • Understand client shutdown schedules and plan orders in advance to ensure timely delivery, considering import lead times.
  • Consult clients on product selection and application, offering technical support and tailored solutions.
  • Manage sales across 10 key product categories, including but not limited to:
  • Oils
  • Greases
  • Cleaners
  • Sprays
  • Technical and mechanical products
  • Industrial and high-performance coatings
  • Chemicals, degreasers, water valves
  • Mechanical seals and coating applications
  • Agricultural solutions such as fruit netting, dam linings, and fencing
  • Collaborate with Chesterton support personnel and attend client meetings jointly when needed.
  • Complete mandatory Chesterton training and effectively utilize the provided tablet for sales and training purposes.
  • Stay informed about water schemes and projects such as those in Lesotho, contributing to business development in emerging areas.

Requirements

Proven experience in technical or industrial sales, preferably in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, or engineering.

Strong consultative selling and client relationship management skills.

Ability to understand and explain complex products and technical specifications.

Self-driven, organized, and capable of working independently in a remote sales role.

Valid drivers license and willingness to travel across the Eastern Cape.
