About the Role

We are seeking two experienced Coffee Excellence Regional Trainers to join our team, one based in Cape Town and the other in Gauteng, who will oversee KZN. As a Coffee Excellence Trainer, you will play a crucial role in training, monitoring, and auditing coffee quality within the group and stores (Franchise and Corporate). You will be responsible for identifying areas of poor-quality concerns, developing and recommending action plans to address these areas, and improving current processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of poor-quality concerns and develop and recommend action plans to address these areas and improve the current processes.
  • Provide training and upskilling of company trainers and operational support teams.
  • Gather information, analyze it, and present findings.
  • Identify and communicate issues raised with the relevant Operations team, offering recommended solutions relevant to the business and risk.
  • Contribute to improving training programs and procedures relevant to the needs of the business.
  • Obtain and review monthly reports from our suppliers & external coffee auditors.
  • Manage relationship with coffee suppliers and hold them accountable for performance.
  • Support activities of the Brand Standards Auditing Department.
  • Record performance on coffee equipment within the group and provide technical expertise to team and suppliers.
  • Analyze product quality in store by tasting products when needed.
  • Coordinate internal barista competitions.

Requirements

  • Ability to observe and understand business processes ensuring processes are documented completely and accurately.
  • Ability to apply audit standards through practical application.
  • Proactive in researching business best practice concepts to apply as appropriate.
  • Solid listening skills and ability to identify gaps in logic – should be inquisitive.
  • Strong organization and follow up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments.
  • Solid understanding and ability to apply risk and control concepts; ability to identify underlying cause of an issue.
  • Ability to determine the quality of coffee products.
  • Ability to articulate and train others with a high level of barista techniques.

Qualifications

Relevant matric (Grade 12 or equivalent) and relevant tertiary qualification. Certified Barista & Certified Barista Trainer.
