About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Farm Manager to lead our rose cultivation operations in South Africa. As a seasoned professional with a proven track record in large-scale commercial horticulture, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of field rose cultivation, from planting to harvesting. Your expertise in managing labour teams in a multicultural environment and your ability to work independently in a remote farm setting are essential requirements for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of field rose cultivation, from planting to harvesting.
- Develop and implement production schedules, crop plans, and seasonal strategies.
- Monitor plant health, growth cycles, and production performance.
- Oversee IPM programmes to ensure optimal pest and disease control.
- Maintain strict quality standards to meet premium export requirements.
- Supervise and train field teams to drive productivity and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with farm protocols, health & safety, and good agricultural practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in field cultivation of roses – essential.
- Exposure to large-scale commercial horticulture, preferably export-orientated.
- Strong practical and technical knowledge of: rose varieties, crop nutrition & fertigation, integrated pest & disease management, pruning, spacing, and canopy management.
- Experience in managing labour teams in a multicultural environment.
- Strong planning, organisational, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote farm environment.
- Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture or related field – advantageous.
