Job Description

As the Head of Finance, the role will oversee the Finance function for Africa, providing insightful financial leadership and enabling the business to achieve its growth objectives. The role will be based in South Africa, with regular travel into neighbouring regions. The successful incumbent will play a key part in strengthening governance, optimising financial systems, and supporting business growth across a diverse project portfolio.  This is a critical leadership role suited to a CA(SA)/CIMA with extensive experience in multi-country operations and a passion for driving performance in complex, fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the finance function across Southern Africa Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to drive informed decision-making Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions Manage project accounting, cost control, and profitability analysis Partner with business leaders to improve financial performance and mitigate risk Drive process improvement and strengthen internal controls Mentor and develop finance teams across various regions Oversee audits, ensure readiness, and maintain strong governance across the region Travel regularly to support in-country operations Job Experience and Skills Required: Chartered Accountant ( CA(SA)) or CIMA, with a preference to CA(SA) 5–10 years post-articles experience in a senior finance role Prior experience in the construction or engineering sector is required Strong internal control  experience is essential Global reporting  and working experience in a listed entity would be ideal Exposure to cross-border operations and financial management in other African countries Strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills Ability and willingness to travel extensively within Southern Africa Why Join?: The construction and engineering industry is a cornerstone of Africa’s economic growth – driving infrastructure development, supporting industrial expansion, and enabling business across sectors.
