Our Maintenance team plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted comfort and operational reliability across the property. We are seeking a Junior Air Conditioning Technician to join our Engineering team. This is a developmental role designed to build technical skill and trade knowledge while supporting the daily maintenance, repair, and basic installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems. You will feel right at home in this role if you are disciplined, eager to learn, and committed to working safely and accurately within a structured commercial or hospitality environment. Minimum Requirements NQF Level 3 or equivalent in Refrigeration / Air Conditioning (or currently enrolled in a recognised trade programme) Technical or vocational HVAC training preferred 2 years experience in a similar role, internship, or apprenticeship programme Hospitality, healthcare, or large building experience advantageous Basic understanding of HVAC tools and equipment Physically fit and able to work at heights, in ceiling spaces, or confined areas Strong safety awareness Valid South African ID CV must be fully updated prior to submission Key Responsibilities Routine Maintenance & Support Assist with regular inspections and maintenance of AC systems, including filters, coils, condensers, compressors, motors, thermostats, and ductwork. Clean and replace filters, grills, and air vents in guest rooms and public areas. Monitor and report unusual noise, performance issues, or potential system failures. Repairs & Fault-Finding Support Support senior technicians in diagnosing faults and carrying out minor repairs under supervision. Learn to identify and address system errors such as poor airflow, refrigerant issues, or electrical malfunctions. Preventive Maintenance (PPM) Participate in preventive maintenance activities and complete checklists in line with the propertys maintenance plan. Assist in logging task completions in OMNI or internal systems and maintain clean service areas after job completion. Safety & Compliance Follow all hotel safety procedures, especially when working with electrical systems, refrigerants, or in confined spaces. Use appropriate PPE at all times and observe lock-out/tag-out procedures when working on isolated equipment. Tools & Equipment Care Ensure tools are cleaned and returned after use. Report missing or damaged equipment immediately. Assist with transporting and organising tools and spare parts during jobs. Guest Room Protocol Enter guest rooms only when accompanied or authorised by a supervisor. Announce yourself clearly and maintain cleanliness when working in guest areas. Ensure equipment does not obstruct guest access. Teamwork & Communication Work closely with the HVAC team and maintenance personnel. Communicate clearly with supervisors, report progress, and participate in training sessions, toolbox talks, and department briefings.
