COREPURPOSEOFJOB

Tofacilitatethelearningprocessintaxationforundergraduateandpostgraduatestudents,themajorityofwhom intend to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA).


KEYPERFORMANCEAREAS

·       Facilitatethelearningprocessintaxation(bytakingresponsibilityforcoursematerial,lectures,tutorialsand setting and moderating assessments) for undergraduate and postgraduate students, the majority of whom intend to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA) – both day and evening groups.

·       Undertakeresearchandscholarlyactivities.

·       Supervisepostgraduatestudents.

·       Engagewithprofessionalbodiesandotherstakeholders.

·       Performrelatedadministrativeduties.

CORECOMPETENCIES

·       SoundknowledgeinthetheoryandapplicationofSouthAfricantaxlegislation,caselaw,recenttrendsand developments in the field, evidenced, among others, by a sound record of accomplishment of academic performance in the subject area.

·       Experienceinfacilitatinglearningforundergraduate(lecturer)and/orpostgraduate(seniorlecturer) students intending to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA).

·       Experienceinacademicleadershipand/orcoursecoordination(seniorlecturer).

·       Potentialtocontributetothecreationofknowledgeinresearchandpublication(lecturer).

·       Relevantknowledgeofresearchmethodologiesinthefieldoftaxationandpotentialtosupervise postgraduate students and be engaged in research and scholarly activities (senior lecturer).

·       Theinnatedesiretodeliverworkofanexcellentstandard.

·       Strongcommunication(written/verbal)skills.

·       Initiativeandmotivationtoworkwithoutneedingextensivesupervision.

·       Stronginterpersonalandleadershipskillsandbeabletoworkaspartofateam.

REQUIREMENTS

Inordertobeconsideredfortheseniorlecturerrank,candidatesshould:

 

·       BeaCharteredAccountant(SouthAfrica)(ingoodstanding);

·       Be in possessionof anMasters degree or equivalent NQFlevel9 qualificationspecialising in South African taxation; and

·       Haveextensiverelevantorrelatedworkingexperience(5years)inthefieldoftaxationand/orinthefacilitation of learning in postgraduate taxation courses.

 

Inordertobeconsideredforthelecturerrank,candidatesshould:

 

·       Be a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) (or should have passed the professional examinations and be in the final year of obtaining the designation) ;

·       BeinpossessionofanHonour’sdegreeorequivalentNQFlevel8qualificationspecialisinginSouthAfrican taxation *; and

·       Have at least 3 years relevant or related working experience in the field of taxation and/or in the facilitation of learning in undergraduate and/or postgraduate taxation courses.

* Preference will be given to candidates who have made progress towards a Master’s degree specialising SouthAfrican taxation and those with experience in facilitation of learning at the postgraduate level.
