Job Title: Line Setter – Inline Extruder & Zipper Bag Machine Location: Proficient Packaging, Ottery Department: Extrusion Department Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role We are seeking a skilled Line Setter to take full responsibility for the setup, operation, and optimization of our inline blown film extrusion line, which includes inline printing, zipper application, and zipper bag conversion. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to ensure the entire process—from raw material feed to finished zip bags—runs smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform complete setup of the production line, including blown film extruder, zipper applicator, inline printer, and zipper bag conversion machine. Set and adjust machine parameters to achieve required film thickness, width, print registration, and zipper profile quality. Conduct tool changes, die changes, mandrel setups, zipper threading, sealing jaw adjustments, and print cylinder mounting. Ensure proper alignment and synchronization of all inline components to maintain continuous production flow. Perform start-up, monitoring, troubleshooting, and shutdown of the entire line. Maintain high-quality standards by performing regular checks on film gauge, print clarity, zipper seal integrity, and bag dimensions. Identify and resolve mechanical or operational issues to minimize downtime. Support continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, waste reduction, and quality enhancement. Assists the Extrusion supervisor in the planning and running of Shift to achieve daily OEE targets. As the senior operator he assists, leads and directs other operators on Shift to meet their OEE targets. Maintain high 5S housekeeping standards and food safety standards. Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with operational and quality standards. Requirements Minimum 3–4 years’ experience as a Line Setter / Technician/Operator in a blown film extrusion & flexible packaging machines environment. Minimum Grade 12 & or technical qualification. Strong knowledge of inline extrusion, inline printing, zipper application, and zipper bag conversion machinery. Ability to read technical drawings, film specifications, and machine setup sheets. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced production environment. Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required. Preferred Skills Experience with monolayer or multilayer extruders. Understanding of flexo printing setup, gravure printing setup, anilox selection, ink viscosity checks, and print registration. Knowledge of zipper film types, sealing temperatures, and conversion techniques. Basic mechanical or electrical aptitude/certification is a plus.
