About the Role
Nelson Mandela University is seeking a highly motivated Lecturer in Agriculture Biotechnology to join its dynamic Faculty of Science. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the university’s reputation and influence in agricultural biotechnology, while facilitating the educational experience of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach lectures, practical sessions, and hands-on training in Agriculture Biotechnology for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Help develop the curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology program with a focus on agriculture and coordinate module administration.
- Assist laboratory students and researchers with both the theory and practical use of agricultural biotechnology in related fields.
- Communicate effectively in a multicultural setting.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to continue growing in the field.
- Carry out administrative tasks at the Departmental and Faculty levels.
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of biotechnology in agriculture.
- Ability to facilitate learning through blended and technologically-based teaching methods.
- Promote engaged scholarship programmes.
- Ability to function independently, as well as in a team.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment.
- Excellent organization and administration skills.
- Good time-management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
Qualifications
- Relevant master’s degree in Agricultural Biotechnology or related field, with an undergraduate degree or diploma in agriculture with a focus in crop production.
- Master’s must be achieved with a minimum average of 70%.
- Registered for, or qualify to register for a PhD in agricultural biotechnology-related field.
