Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers and technicians, including training and performance reviews.
- Provide technical input and solution development to support new projects and business development initiatives.
- Design energy and power metering frameworks.
- Design and commission EMS and AMR systems.
- Facilitate FAT and SAT procedures for metering systems.
- Review and approve technical design documentation.
- Ensure system integration, testing, and overall quality assurance aligned with customer specifications.
- Support field technicians with technical guidance.
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex client queries.
- Configure hardware including servers, switches, gateways, and power meters.
- Compile and automate complex technical reports (e.g., tariff analysis, section budgeting).
- Oversee project implementation, ensuring scope, budget, and timelines are effectively managed.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical problems.
- Promote engineering best practices and foster a strong technical culture.
Qualifications
- Matric Certificate
- Engineering Degree or Diploma
- Postgraduate management and/or technical qualification advantageous
- Pr. Eng registration advantageous
- Knowledge of AMR and AMI systems (including PME, ecWin, eEnterprise) advantageous
- Project Management background advantageous
- Power Quality background advantageous
- Advanced PME certification advantageous
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) advantageous
Skills and Experience
- 8–10 years of relevant technical experience
- 8–10 years of team leadership experience
- Minimum 8 years of project experience
- Proven experience within the electrical power utility and related industry sectors
- Strong track record of achievement at senior management level, including financial performance accountability (minimum five years)
- Experience working with multinational suppliers and OEMs advantageous
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical capability
- Project management and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and technical deliverables
- Strong communication and client engagement skills
