About the Role
Our client, a fast-growing applications developer, is seeking a high-energy, hands-on Software & Applications Team Lead who loves rolling up their sleeves and leading from the front. You won’t be stuck behind a desk managing from a distance, you’ll code, mentor a passionate team, and take ownership of exciting projects from idea through to delivery, playing a key role in driving innovation and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a small development team
- Conduct code reviews, pair programming, and skills development
- Support and guide developers with day-to-day technical challenges
- Design, build, and maintain Python 3 backend services
- Develop and maintain Flutter/Dart mobile applications
- Maintain and improve existing web platforms (PHP, React, NestJS or similar)
- Manage and optimise MariaDB/MySQL databases
- Manage Linux servers (Ubuntu/OpenSUSE)
- Configure and optimise Nginx routing and performance
- Work with TCP/IP networking fundamentals and system integrations
- Drive new ideas, including AI-powered features and system enhancements
- Improve performance, reliability, and scalability across platforms
- Take full ownership of software projects from planning through to delivery
- Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders
- Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of solutions

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent experience)
Salary & Benefits
R50 000 – R75 000 Depending on experience
