About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Submerge Welder to join our team at Greys Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating submerged arc welding equipment, ensuring weld quality meets required standards and specifications, and maintaining welding equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate submerged arc welding equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Prepare materials by cleaning, cutting, and aligning components.
- Perform welding on thick steel plates, pipes, or structural components.
- Monitor welding process parameters (voltage, current, speed, flux).
- Ensure weld quality meets required standards and specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections and assist with non-destructive testing (NDT) where required.
- Maintain welding equipment and report faults or breakdowns.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Complete job cards, production reports, and quality documentation.
Requirements
- Grade 10 / Matric (preferred).
- Relevant welding certification (SAW qualification highly advantageous).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in submerged arc welding.
- Experience in heavy engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of submerged arc welding processes.
