About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Systems Engineer Solaris to manage, optimize, and secure our Solaris environments. If you’re passionate about performance tuning, automation, and system reliability, this is your playground.
Key Responsibilities
- System Management: Maintain Solaris 11 OS, perform updates, patches, and troubleshoot issues.
- User & Access Management: Manage accounts, roles, and permissions; monitor access logs for security compliance.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and test backup/recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze system metrics, optimize configurations, and enhance throughput.
- Security: Implement protective measures, review firewall/access configurations, and respond to system incidents.
- Collaboration & Support: Assist cross-functional teams with deployments and integrations; provide user support.
- Vendor & Technology Interaction: Coordinate with vendors and evaluate new tools for improved system management.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed system documentation, generate reports on performance, file transfers, and security logs.
Requirements
- 7 to 10 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience.
- 2 to 4 years of Solaris 11 system administration experience.
- Strong proficiency with Solaris technologies: Logical Domains, Zones, ZFS, SMF, IPS, SRU patching, ILOM, and network configuration (IPMP).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and security protocols.
- Scripting skills (Shell, Perl) for automation and workflow improvements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications: Solaris Certified Systems Administrator (SCSA) and Solaris 11 Network Administration preferred; Linux certifications (e.g., RHCE) are advantageous.
